Post Convention Blog!

We are fresh with the excitement of spending the last week at the 2016 Young Living Convention and we wanted to share some of our experiences with you. Convention truly isn't just for business minded oil users, its also for those who want to educate themselves about their oil use as well. There is so much to do at convention-- you get to attend the general session each day where they announce the newest products and changes to Young Living, you get to go to the Expo and try all the new products, smell EVERY oil that Young Living carries, you get the chance to hear incredibly inspiring and passionate people speak, and mostly you get to have a TON of fun and connect with friends from all over the world.

I asked my sister to think up some questions she had about our convention experience, and below both Christina Valenzuela and I will answer them. I hope you can join us at convention next year!

1. Were you oily star struck?

Christina V: Yes...but my sweet friend told me to hold it together...but we saw EVERYONE..and it was very cool.

Christina H: Not really. I saw a TON of people that are “oily celebrities”, but I’m not really the personality to go up to those I don’t know. I did get a little excited to meet Susan Heid though. She’s rad.

2. How much should I save to go to convention next year? How much did you spend?

Christina V:  I would save 100 a month (Tip: Just save some of your YL check) and that will be more than enough.  I was lucky to have gone with someone who made me lunch and snacks everyday.  We also had a great free breakfast included at our hotel.  Depending on what you can swing, this trip can be done on a budget for sure.  Don’t let the money be the reason you go or don’t go...this is a life changing and inspiring event, worth every sacrifice to make it happen!

Christina H: I would say to save at least $1000-$1200. However, this can be done on the super cheap. Sharing a room with more than one person can cut the cost dramatically. We spent just over $800 on our room, but only split it two ways. Buying some wine and food to have in your room is also a huge money saver. We didn’t waste time standing in line and didn’t spend $10 on each meal. I did splurge a little however, we went out for a few meals and a few drinks, just not all of them. I got a raindrop massage at the YL Spa and that cost my $100. I also spent around $200 on materials from vendors-- shirts, bottles, books, things like that. If you are able to book your travel early as well as buy your convention ticket during early bird pricing that will help as well.

3. What did you learn at convention that you didn’t already know?

Christina V: That positive thoughts versus negative thoughts have a huge impact on your life and success potential. I may not seem negative to those who “know” me but I have a hard time being content with where I am at in this business and really beat myself up.  I learned to focus on positive thoughts and really following through. Loved that Young Living is such a giving company, I didn’t know how giving until convention.  They are involved in so many countries and help so many people, it was so inspiring.  Young Living also pays all the expenses for their Foundation, and our donations go directly to the people they are helping, very cool!

Christina H: Young Living just keeps blowing me away. Each year they strive to be the best and no other EO company can touch them. Last year we struggled with the FDA crackdown, and they just took what was a negative and turned it into a huge success for the company and all of us. We are now the only company that has FDA approved over the counter medicines.

4. How much Ningxia Red did you drink?

Christina V: More than I thought I could.  Christina H. is a Ningxia beast and could have had more, but I think I held her back a few times.  I love black pepper and Frankincense in my ningxia shot, and the ningxia slushies are a revelation.
Christina H: A ridiculous amount. Ridiculous. At the expo they have “Club Red” where you can buy shots of Ningxia with as many oils as your heart desires for $2!!! You can also get Ningxia slushies, and other YL snacks. It’s amazing and really addicting.

5. Do you have any convention do’s and dont’s?

Christina V: Do leave enough room for items you want to buy, I got a Dewdrop diffuser for hecka cheap and that took up some room. Do bring clothes that are both comfortable, and good for hot weather.  Don’t miss out on next year’s convention.  Don’t hesitate to get into the classes you wanted but didn’t get to sign up for in time (they will let you in).
Christina H: Do stay at the Hampton Inn. We got a hot breakfast everyday (another money saver!), and a coffee bar 24 hours a day. Christina V. really enjoyed drinking hot cocoa at all hours of the day. It was only about a 10 minute walk from the convention center. Don’t get stressed out about not getting the perfect seat or being able to book all the right sessions. Young Living is really good about making things right and honestly, you won’t be disappointed. I promise.

6. What were some of the oils you smelled that are on your must have list now?

Christina V: Hmmm I pretty much smelled them all (and saved the test strips lol) I loved these blends: Build Your Dream, Hope and Present Time.  The single oils I have to have are Lemon Myrtle, Mastrante, and Palo Santo.
Christina H: This is a hard one, because I want ALL THE OILS! But, it was the emotional oils I was drawn to like Harmony and Magnify Your Purpose that I really loved.

7. What was your biggest take away?

Christina V: To never give up. This has been the most personal growth year of my life, and I feel stretched after going to convention.  Everyone from every age group and walk of life was represented at convention in all types of ranks, it was very encouraging. I am proud to be a part of a company that loves people and has an honest goal of helping others.

Christina H: To work my strengths, not just in my business, but in life. I think as moms and business owners we try to do everything ourselves, but it's ok to let others take care of things for you or ask for help. That’s why The Crossline Christinas is so great. We are able to contribute and help each other and play off each other's strengths.

One last thing--- The Farm! You get to visit the Mona Lavender Farm and it is a life changing experience to walk in the fields, witness the distillation and bottling, and just experience the beauty of it all. Young Living lays out the red carpet for everyone who visits and it was a highlight of the trip.

My Favorite Young Living Personal Care Products

Since I started my Young Living journey a couple years ago, I have slowly been replacing MANY things in my house with essential oils or essential oil infused products. Replacing the over the counter medications and cleaning products was easy. However, replacing my personal care products has been much harder. I have just been trying to conquer one item and one room at a time.

Have you ever taken the time to look at some of the ingredients in the products you use on your body each day? When the list of ingredients is ridiculously long and I can't pronounce half of them, then that is usually a bad sign. Instead of spending hours on the internet looking up the ingredients and scaring yourself half to death in the processes; make your life easier and get an app called: "Think Dirty" This app has been a game changer for me. You can search or even scan items while you are out shopping to see how it rates on their scale of 1-10. It tells you what kind of harmful chemicals or additives a product has and what kind of negative effect it can have on your body. This app makes it easy for even the busiest person to make sounds decisions for their family while on the go.

Of course Young Living also has a lot of great home, and personal care products as well. I was a little tentative to begin this process because of the price point of many of the products, but I am happy to report that everything I have tried lasts much long and does a far better job too! Below I will outline a few of the items that I have replaced in the personal care department.

Lavender Hand and Body Lotion: The first item that I want to highlight is the first personal care item that I tried. A friend of mine that also uses Young Living recommended it to me for my youngest daughter's dry skin. Nothing has ever worked so well on her skin. A little goes a long way. I use this item on her daily and only have to buy one every 3 months.

Lip Balm: I am a self proclaimed lip balm addict and I think it must be hereditary because so is my daughter. We love the Lavender the most, but you really can't go wrong with any of the Young Living lip balms.

Toothpaste: Young Living actually carries two types of toothpaste, plus a children's toothpaste as well. Everyone in my house, including the kids enjoy the Aromabright toothpaste the best. It's a little unusual at first because it doesn't foam like the toothpaste you are use to using, but it will leave your mouth ridiculously clean and fresh. This toothpaste has greatly improved my oral health.

Deodorant: Finding a natural deodorant that actually works was really hard! I had tried almost all the other brands out there. It wasn't until I made the switch to Young Living that I finally found one that kept me dry and stink free! :)

Kids Personal Care Items: In full disclosure I have not been able to try these on my kids. Why? Because they are so popular that they are normally sold out! I guess I can assume that they are awesome! Non toxic and a super cute label. You can't go wrong there!

Bath and Shower Gels: I have had a chance to try these and absolutely love them!  Its an invigorating way to start the day with such an aromatic experience.

Shampoo and Conditioner: Young Living has a couple Shampoo and Conditioner combinations to choose from, but I prefer the Lavender and Mint. The mint and the lavender together smells great and this shampoo and conditioner does not make my scalp itchy like I experienced before with other shampoos. A little goes a long way too, even in my super thick hair.

Skin Care: This is just a a couple of the MANY face care products that Young Living carries. The Orange Blossom Facial Wash and Satin Mint Facial Scrub are both wildly popular and leave your face feeling refreshed and amazingly clean.

Like I said above, these are just a few of the personal care products that Young Living has to offer. Log onto your Virtual Office and explore some of the many categories of products. If you are not on Essential Rewards yet now is the time! You can use some of your points to try out new products. This month's promotion is amazing. Take advantage of it by buying gifts for others and yourself!

Oils On The Go!

The Must Have Young Living Products For Every Bag In Your Life

As a mom, student, business owner, and working a full-time job I carrier a lot of baggage (not that kind). With all of these bags comes the need to outline the amazing Young Living products I cannot live without when on the go!  If you have not started bringing Young Living along for the ride yet you will (and should).  I have outlined what Young Living products I can absolutely not go without.

In My Purse

Well, besides the million completely random things (like a rock and Lego) I have my beautiful essential oil clutch, from Sew Grown.  I have a tone of oils with me all the time but to keep this post short here are a few of my favorites:

Dragon Time essential oil blend with a roller: I slather this on everyday, it has helped keep my hormones in balance and I love it!

En-R-Gee essential oil blend: The scent is invigorating and so easy to see where it got it's name.

Lemon essential oil (or any citrus): I am a water snob now and only drink water with essential oils in it...that's just the way it is

NingXia Red Singles: Because I drive, have kids, and work..I need the antioxidant support!

Other Young Living products I keep in my purse: Young Living Lavender lip balm, I love it more then I thought I could love lip balm. Thieves hand sanitizer and Super B capsules.

In My Diaper Bag

Technically I don't carry a diaper bag anymore, my twins are two and carry their own stuff now (including oils...so cute!). I will say that these are the Young Living items I did keep in my diaper bag:

Thieves Spray: This stuff is awesome, I would spray the shopping cart handle, swing at the park you name it I sprayed it!

Tea Tree essential oil: Supports health skin, a needed item in the bag!

Lavender essential oil: Wonderful soothing scent, great in a travel diffuser for the car like this the USB Orb

Balance Complete: As a new mom of twins eating was something that maybe never happened, so shaker bottle with a scoop (or two) of balance complete was perfect to have on hand.

In My Gym Bag

I love working-out and am very excited about a newer product that came out this year from Young Living which I will be adding to my gym bag Cool Azul Sports gel.

Here are a few other products in my Gym Bag line-up

Deep Relief: The name says it all, and believe me this was a go to when training for a half marathon.

RC: I enjoy diffusing RC while working-out, such an uplifting scent

Pure Protein Complete (chocolate or vanilla): Protein is great to have after a workout, and these shakes have been getting rave reviews. I like to keep a shaker bottle with me for after workouts, curbs cravings and replenishes the body

Slique Bars:  I love to have a bar handy for a pre-workout snack. Young Living has a whole Slique line of products to support health weight!

In My Suitcase

The whole point of a vacation at this point in my life is to catch up on some sleep! I love my kids, but I need my sleep and a vacation is a great time for that.  Here are my suitcase essentials:

Cedarwood essential oil: I love how relaxing this oil is, and how well it supports healthy sleep and skin (bonus!)

Stress Away essential oil blend: My husband uses this on long drives mostly to ensure the safety of the other drivers. I love to apply this throughout the day, really helps to reduce tension.

Peppermint: On vacation we eat and love to add Peppermint to our water as a great way to support healthy digestion.

Purification essential oil blend: We have all been there, the hotel room that smells like someone has been staying there for awhile..I love to bring my diffuser and get my fresh on! This works great to help freshen the stale air of a closed up hotel room.

Inner Defense: When I go on vacation the last thing I want is to feel less then normal. This great supplement will help to reinforce systemic defenses, promote healthy respiratory function, and is rich in immune-supporting ingredients.
